Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is a procedure that uses a carbon
dioxide (CO2) laser
which is transmitted to the skin removing old layers of skin exposing new,
healthier skin. It is effective in treating wrinkles, blotchiness, and age
spots.
ANESTHESIA
Frequently, local anesthesia alone or combined woth intravenous sedation is
used. General anesthesia may also be desired.
LENGTH
The procedure takes about 30 minutes.
IN/OUT PATIENT
A laser resurfacing is usually done in your doctor¹s office.
SIDE EFFECTS
After the intial redness subsides, your skin may be pink for several weeks
to months.
RECOVERY
About 7 - 10 days after your skin resurfacing, a new skin will have begun to
form. Straining, bending and lifting should be avoided during during the
period following your procedure. You can return to work within a week or
two. Exercise or other strenous activities may be delayed a few weeks longer
